YPHE – THE UNIQUE PRIMARY SCHOOL BASED, YOUTH PEER HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAM – ACCEPTED BY OTHER NGOs IN NJOMBE TANZANIA

Recently, SHIPO has declared their acceptance of Highlands Hope Umbrella’s approach to address HIV/AIDS issues in primary schools through Youth Peer Health Education Program implemented by HHU for number of years.

George Sanga, the program coordinator from Highlands Hope Umbrella was given a task to train SHIPO staff, local journalists, and local authorities on essential concepts about HIV and how it affects children in primary schools and their education.

Also he was invited to address the importance of addressing HIV issues in primary school and propose best approaches to sensitize school communities (children, parents and teachers) on HIV issues in the context of primary schools in rural Njombe from the experience gained from coordinating the HHU program in Njombe region primary schools.

Highlands Hope Umbrella affirms to support SHIPO’s efforts as they will go on planning and implement their activities in primary schools so as to extend the YPHE program and encourage other governmental and non-governmental organizations to join these efforts for greater results.
