Canadian Friends of Highlands Hope wish all our Tanzanian and European partners Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

We look forward to a day when recognition and support comes from the Tanzanian government and international agencies to our Highlands Hope partners for their outstanding work - more than 2,500 patients already registered and receiving HIV counselling, testing, and ARVs (when required).

The need in Njombe and Makete is enormous - there's estimated to be 18% prevalence of HIV in the population - but the health care resources that actually reach the people are very, very limited.

And in Bulongwa, local hospital officials continue to fail patients with poor services and ongoing harrassment of patient activists.

Let's make 2007 a year of solidarity and great success with People Living with HIV-AIDS.
