Find out what has been happening with Highlands Hope Umbrella
and all of our partners
Highlands Hope Umbrella has been working in partnership with TANWAT Hospital in many programs and one of them is this "SENIORS' DAY CENTER". It has been a very interesting program as elders found in Njombe (Kibena and Itulike) are having a good time and feeling the community love to them on every time they meet for monthly events.
It was in July 2014 when Highlands Hope Umbrella and McGill University Ingram school of Nursing started to implement the extension of Youth Peer Health Education with a target of reaching 50 more primary schools in Njombe Tanzania.
YPHE trainer Seth Mbuna prepared this account of the recent training event in Makete District in the Kipengere Mountains, in one of the more remote areas of Njombe Region.
Ten regional academic achievement awards are given to Highlands Hope Umbrella's Youth Peer Health Educator team, including the special award to Sarafina as youth ambassador from Njombe, as a way to encourage all stakeholders in YPHE program to keep on with their efforts.
In January 2006, Montreal’s famed Gazette cartoonist Terry Mosher (Aislin) traveled to the Southern Highlands of the East African nation of Tanzania to visit Highlands Hope.
He captured the beauty, the heartbreak and the courageous determination of Highlands Hope activists like nurse Betty Liduke, community-organizer Jackson Mbogela, and the men, women and children who make the Makete and Njombe Districts of Tanzania a very special place.
